For years I’ve seen that meme on social media that reads “make sure you check on your strong friend too” & for years I’ve ignored it. Yet for years I’ve felt from the outside looking in, many people believe my life is perfect. To the point that I myself, began to as well. I’ve had the nice things, two amazing sons & a woman that supports me. I am the guy who quit his job to pursue an education that wasn’t for me but through that, realized business ownership was my calling.
Theres a classic saying that goes “Excuses come easy to those looking for them” & boy is that true? We’ve all expressed the common excuses like “Everyone has student loans, I'll keep them in deferment” & “I cant save money because I don’t make enough”. We as a culture must move away from this normal way of thinking if we ever want to strive towards success.
It seems as if the day I acquired my first bill I began CHASING ZERO. “If I could get these bills off my back and rid myself of this debt, life would be so good” is what I’ve said to myself over the past 10 years. I purchased my first brand new car at 18 years old. It was a 2008 Honda Civic and boy did I feel like the man. Until of course that $350 car payment started rolling in every month, followed by $402 dollar insurance and lets not discuss gas because I suddenly had the urge to drive any and everywhere for no reason at all.
A passion is a strong enthusiasm & excitement about something, or for doing something. How amazing would it be to have that definition define your day to day life? The narratives we hear far too often are “Where did my weekend go?” “I hate Mondays” & “Is it Friday yet?” on a Tuesday afternoon. Diving into this we must self reflect on what it is that we actually love to do. What are you good at? What makes you happy? If you had all the money in the world what would give you that spark to get up in the morning?
Why start a blog in 2018? Its oversaturated. Why workout? It’s way too hard to stay consistent. Why get out of debt? Everyone has debt, it’ll be okay. These are all responses I’ve heard from the individuals around me. Some friends, some family, & some my followers. The belief in these excuses or the unwillingness to sacrifice for change are the reason why these individuals may never begin.
